What are the Benefits of Recurring Pest Control?

At PureHome Pest Control, we believe the best defense creates a great offense. By treating the home and property regularly, we are creating barriers that make it tough for insects to breach. Some companies come back regularly to get rid of the new bugs that have sprung onto the home since the last visit. We come back to reestablish the barriers routinely to KEEP them away.

Cockroaches can essentially be found anywhere there is harborage, which simply means where they can find water, food, and shelter. This is why it is so common to see cockroaches in the house - it's everything they need!

What kinds of Diseases do Mosquitoes Carry?

Zika Virus, West Nile Virus, Dengue Fever, and Chikungunya are diseases that mosquitoes carry specifically here in the US.

What kinds of Diseases do Mice and Rats Carry?

Mice and rats carry a number of different diseases, and thus should be treated with care. Diseases include Plague, Rat-Bite Fever, Salmonellosis, Lassa Fever, and Leptospirosis, among others.

Where do Silverfish come from?

Silverfish and Firebrats are common insects within the Oklahoma environment. Silverfish like dark, damp places and have silver scales with long antennae. They are commonly found in bathrooms underneath the sink and can be found roaming around at night. Firebrats on the other hand really enjoy warm indoor areas where temperatures are around 90° (think heating units, fireplaces, stoves, and hot water pipes).

What kinds of Wasps are found in Oklahoma?

There are various types of wasps including mud daubers, yellow jackets, paper wasps, hornets, etc. Some of us are allergic, therefore stings can cause a reaction which requires hospitalization. While this is rare, it is something to be aware of. You will often find them around eaves and overhangs around your home.

My Dog has been Scratching a lot lately. Is it because of Ticks?

Ticks feed off of the blood of other animals, typically mammals, which include humans and dogs. The Brown Dog Tick is the most likely home invader of ticks in Oklahoma. Because of this we offer specialized flea and tick treatments for the interior and exterior of the home and property. Lyme Disease is one potential by-product of a tick infestation, and can cause damage to the brain, joints, or the heart in humans. Again, while this is rare, it is something to be aware of.

Are Scorpions included in your Service?

Yes we will! Scorpions are mostly harmless unless provoked, and the sting is usually not lethal enough to prove fatal. Scorpions are normally found in moist places in and around the home, including the attic, crawlspace, kitchen, and bathrooms. You are more likely to see them at night as they are nocturnal.

Are All Spiders Dangerous?

While virtually all spiders are poisonous, this doesn't necessarily mean that we should be concerned with them all. There are a couple species within Oklahoma that can cause problems if bitten by them. These species include the Black Widow and the Brown Recluse Spiders. The Black Widow can be easily identified by its very large abdomen with a red or orange hourglass marking. These are often found hanging upside down. And the Brown Recluse spider is just that, reclusive. It is a secretive spider that is less common to see than the Black Widow. Due to these somewhat rare sightings Wolf spiders are often mistaken for Brown Recluse spiders. When found in homes they can be seen virtually anywhere such as bathrooms, closets, kitchens, garages, and porches. They also have a “violin” marking pointing toward the back of their abdomen. This is why they are also sometimes called "Fiddlers".
